The Capstone Design Expo showcases Georgia Tech’s graduating seniors as they present their innovative projects designed and built during the Capstone Design Course. Capstone Design is a culminating course offered to undergraduate students in several disciplines at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Students work in teams to design and test solutions for real-world problems. The course allows students to work on real-world, open-ended, interdisciplinary challenges proposed by industrial and research project sponsors or their entrepreneurial projects. They learn and apply the engineering design process: defining functional requirements, conceptualization, analysis, identifying risks and countermeasures, selection, and prototyping.

At the end of the semester, student teams display and pitch their inventions and marketability to a panel of judges, guests, media, and their peers while competing for cash prizes.

Projects range from solutions for real-world problems from industry and developing communities to those with real commercialization potential. A short video from last year's Spring Expo is available here: https://youtu.be/G47o7SFTn7o.
